At the 2016 Adidas Sickline Extreme Kayak World Championships in Austria, big name kayakers battled it out on the Wellerbrücke River.
In the women’s final, Sandra Hyslop from Great Britain placed first, France’s Nouria Newman came second and The Netherland’s Martina Wegman third.
In the men’s final Aniol Serrasolses from Spain placed first, Sam Sutton from New Zealand second and American Dane Jackson third.
The challenging course on the Wellerbrücke rapids runs for 200 meters on a 10 per cent gradient. The rapids are class V an VI and are filled with exceptionally technical features.
