Wooden blades and carbon fiber shaft are light and tough

One of our favorite paddles for river fishing is Bending Branch’s Navigator with tough wooden paddle blades. While the carbon fiber shaft and laminate wood blades are light and tough, the low-angle blades aren’t perfect for powering through rapids. In answer, Bending Branches poured their creative energy into the new Navigator Angler. With a wider blade and tougher construction, the Angler model is perfect for larger, heavier sit-on-top kayaks.

The wood blade is softer than fiberglass or carbon fiber to absorb the shock of striking rocks or pushing off pilings. To further beef up the blade for fishing, they added two ounces of fiberglass and full Rockguard around the edges of the wood-laminate blades. The carbon fiber shaft has a three-position, push button ferrule available in 220 to 260 cm lengths. The Angler is available out Bending Branches outfitters and online at $299.
