Yakima Racks At ICAST 2018 Alex Traynor

Easy to adjust, quick to install and sure to secure gear, new racks, trailer and car-top camper.

Yakima is famous for designing the toughest, most utilitarian racks and trailers for outdoor enthusiasts. Now, they are releasing an even stronger and smarter options perfect for carrying heavy fishing kayaks. The HD line of truck racks are simple to remove and adjust. Integrated tie downs make loading quick and secure with multiple options for attaching accessories. We’d add the new Big Catch saddles capable of holding 150 pounds and conform to fit any size and shape hull.

The new Easy Rider trailer has two levels capable of carrying up to 500 pounds. The bottom level can accommodate a 48-inch-wide kayak. The top level will hold two kayaks or gear baskets and boxes. The wiring is submersible and LED lights last forever. Independent suspension makes trailering easy. Even with the heavy-duty components, the trailer is light enough to move by hand.

Car-top tents are popping up in campgrounds, Yakima redesigned their line to be tougher and more stable. Sky Rise HD is made of rip-stop nylon and rated for four seasons. The floor is covered with a thick, foam mattress and a skylight provides daylight even with the rain fly. A full line of accessories from shoe bags to hooks keep gear in reach without having to climb out of the tent. We love that the 120-pound tent doesn’t require tools for installation.
