Columbia PFG Omni Shade Sun Deflector At ICAST 2018 | Kayak Angler Magazine | Rapid Media
Columbia Omni Shade Sun Deflector Alex Traynor

stays cool and looks cool

Columbia continues to figure out ways to keep anglers cool, comfortable and on the water longer. Their efforts to take clothing technology to the next level have resulted in innovations that leave other active wear in the dust. Last year, they released the Omni Shade Sun Deflector material infused with titanium dioxide to reflect sun and lower the surface temperature of the fabric. This year they’ve improved the material to be 30-percent lighter and noticeably softer.

To further improve cooling, on some models they coupled the Sun Deflector with Omni Shade to cool the inside and outside of the garment. The Terminal Deflector Zero uses both technologies and has a crew-neck collar to protect the hard-to-cover parts of the neck from sun exposure. The Terminal Deflector Zero Hoodie integrated neck gator and hood will be popular with open water anglers with no protection from the sun’s harmful rays. We were stoked to see more serious sun protection options for women anglers, too.
