our stewardship programs have removed thousands of pounds of debris from rivers, streams and oceans, we have advocated for water trail access, weighed in on the public lands issue, and fought to permanently renew the Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF).

STEWARDSHIP

The ACA will be targeting 10 states to help improve recreational paddling access. The ACA testified to the Maryland Senate to help push a bridge access bill into fruition. The ACA are also currently working with federal, state and local communities to identify appropriate access points that may be suitable while the bridge undergoes repairs.

EDUCATION

We partnered with Heliconia Productions to launch three Paddle Smart WebTV Series for recreational kayaking, kayak fishing and standup paddleboarding funded by a grant from the U.S. Coast Guard. We also published a brand new animated youth booklet to help introduce kids to the joys of paddling canoes, kayaks, SUPs and rafts.

RECREATION

Along with seven partners, the ACA hosted the Rock the River FXBG in Fredericksburg, Virginia, on June 4th. Over 5,000 people attended the one-day event. Rock the River included canoe, kayak and SUP races for all ages and abilities, as well as special races for kids under 10.

COMPETITION

Check out the ACA’s calendar of events on our website for upcoming competitions near you.

INSURANCE We are working on lowering ACA event costs and streamlining the paperwork process for paddling clubs, festivals and races. Stay tuned for additional information later this fall.
