New packable rafts are built to take abuse and take you anywhere

To get away from it all, adventures are hiking or biking into the wild then inflating a packable raft and hitting the water. At this summer’s Paddlesports Retailer in Oklahoma City, Zach Peterson showed off the Kokopelli Packraft’s new Rogue Lite and PVC Recon. For the ultimate in transportable watercraft, the Rogue Lite weighs only 5.5 pounds and folds into a bundle no larger than a roll of paper towels. A waterproof zipper on the bow opens the tubes to pack with camping gear before the kayak is inflated. Even though the boat is light, a Kevlar reinforced floor makes it tough. Peterson says the boat is popular with cyclists to wheel to the water then strap their bike to the raft. For a tougher option, Kokopelli is offering the PVC Recon made out of heavy duty material but still weighing just 12 pounds. The boat is outfitted with tabs and tie downs to rig with a seat back and thigh straps for better comfort and control. According to Peterson, the boat is popular with outfitters and guides looking for a raft that can be used day-in and day-out with inexperienced clients.
