  • Bill Sikora created a new topic Neat way to receive free gear... in the forum.
Hey guys, I recently joined this cool club and thought that I would let you know about it. The club is Fishhound.com, and this is where I can test and keep fishing gear all year long. You can either join up for $5 per month or do the annual membership for $39.96 basically saving $20 for the year. I go and pick what I want to test and they send it to me for me to keep. All I pay is the shipping and handling then answer 5 questions and it is mine. A $150 TFO rod only cost me $25 in shipping and handling so I saved $125. Plus you get gift cards sent via email every month...which is pretty cool since one of the cards is for Tackle Warehouse! When you sign up for the $5 month deal you get $20 in gear right away as a welcome package and when you sign up for the annual $39.96 you get the same $20 in gear right away in your welcome package plus a bonus $125 in gear testing points added to your account to redeem for gear. I just thought I would pass this along as I have been working with them on future partnerships with the Florida Bass Paddlers.

If you want to sign up for the $5 per month deal go to www.fishhound.com/registration/monthly/member

If you want to sign up for the $39.96 annual deal go to www.fishhound.com/registration/yearly/member

Make sure you enter Kayak Angler Mag as the club name.

If you have any questions contact Alberto at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it . He set me up and I have been grabbing gear ever sense...Hope you check it out!

  • Hey Scott...I know you probably have been busy but there are some issues with the forum. For one, I can not post pictures in my threads, two...it is very slow, and three...we need a page for fishing trips. Can this be done?
Scott MacGregor Yes, been swamped. Thanks for the feedback. We've been putting off a server upgrade just because we've been too busy to do it. I'll work on the pictures thing. And yes, we can create a fishing trips category, do you mean where guys can post about their trips? Just checking. Any thoughts about a title or description that you feel will entice folks to contribute?
    Thanks Bill.

PS I have a whole new site template and concept coming. I'm rolling it out on KA and then for our other three magazines. Looking at early September.

  • Sorry Greg...for some reason I do not get e-mails when I receive a PM. As far as the "buttons" you are referring to, they are called double pad eyes and they are available here www.austinkayak.com/products/647/….

  • Hey Bill.
May I ask about the anchor trolley line part that keeps everything even? They are the button looking peices. Where and who makes them? I would love to add them to my trolley line. Thanks. -Greg

  • We are pleased to present our All County Snakehead Bounty Tournament. Sponsored by the Florida Bass Paddlers, KBF, HOOK 1, and YakAttack!

Let’s fish Eco-Friendly…No entry fee…Here it how it will work!

1.) Kayak Anglers can fish any waters they desire which may contain Snakeheads from 7:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on June 24th. There is no size minimum, so when you catch them, take a photo on any measuring device, and keep / kill them after the photo is taken.

  • Bill Sikora created a new topic Cabelas T.U.B. in the forum.
Recently, I picked up a Cabelas T.U.B. (Tackle Utility Binder) and I must say, I think it is fantastic! First, the outside has a pocket for a 3600 sized utility box, which is where I keep my hard baits:

The binder also has 2 sets of 4 small mesh pockets on the inside of the front and back of the binder. This is where I keep my leader, license, small hook packs, etc.:

The binder also comes with 10 pages, 5 of which are single pocket pages for soft plastics:

and the other 5 are divided pockets for spoons, jigs, spinnerbaits, and buzzbaits:

The best part of this is now ALL of my gear is in one spot. The construction seems sturdy, but not sure how it would last after extended use in salt water. I really like this binder and it comes in two sizes. The only downside is that it is a bit pricey. I included a link for this product as well!

  • Bill Sikora created a new topic New YakAttack products... in the forum.
The new line of products from YakAttack are terrific. One is the new Panfish camera mount. With a few different mounting options, it is terrific for capturing your fishing adventures. I use the Scotty mount option and have mine directly behind my seat:

The other product I use is the Screwball. Although this product is intended for kayaks with a trac system, you can also mount the Screwball directly to your kayak. It is available in a 1" or 1.5" size, and utilizes many RAM mount applications. I installed mine on the console of my kayak for my camera...Always looking for a great "Hero" shot!:

To view these terrific products, as well as other from YakAttack, please visit www.yakattack.us

  • Bill Sikora created a new topic Jackson Coosa for Sale! in the forum.
I am selling my Jackson Coosa Kayak in camo. The kayak is in great shape, some scratches, but due to a new Pro Staff spot, I am forced to sell it. It is 11'3" in length, and weighs 67 pounds with the seat, and 63 pounds without it. It features standard options such as:

    Removable Hi/Lo Seat
Lockable bow and stern hatches that can store fishing rods up to 11ft
    Day hatch for accessories
    Adjustable foot pegs
23 inch wide, non slick standing platform
    Drag chain/anchor recess
Rod stagers and flush mount rod holders
    Paddle stager and paddle holder
    Cup holder
    Tackle storage under seat
    Replaceable skid plate on keel
    Large tankwell with bungee
    Superlinear polyethylene hull

I have installed a Yak Attack 1" screw ball on the console, silent traction padding on the platform and cup holder, scupper plugs, brand new skid plate, and a mesh storage bag on the back of the seat. Asking $650 and the kayak is located in Coral Springs. Please PM me with serious inquiries or questions only...I will even throw in a Jackson Kayak decal!

About Rapid Media

What began in the summer of '98 as scribbles on a bar napkin is now the world's best paddlesports media company. Rapid Media has four paddling magazines, produces an international paddling film festival, had the very first paddling and fishing magazines in iTunes, and is the official partner of both the American Canoe Association and Paddle Canada. We're proud of all this, but the real reason we're the best is because we paddle and we care.
