It all began in 1998 when a few enterprising river guides scribbled a business plan on a bar napkin. They wanted a whitewater magazine that celebrated their paddling lifestyle. Today, Rapid Media applies the same winning formula to whitewater, kayak touring, kayak fishing and canoeing and camping magazines, the Reel Paddling Film Festival, on-water events like Palmer Fest, and Internet publishing.

Mission:  Rapid Media's mission it to produce the best paddlesport magazines and events to support and grow the number of paddling enthusiats and encourage them to PADDLE FOREVER safely and in a way that is friendly to our rivers, lakes and oceans.

Rapid Media, based in Palmer Rapids, Ontario, Canada is the publisher of Rapid, Adventure Kayak, Kayak Angler and Family Camping and Canoeroots magazines. Kayak Angler is published bi-annually releasing in February and June. The other are published four times per year: February, April, June and August.

Rapid is North America’s first whitewater paddling magazine and is Rapid Media’s flagship publication. It's editorial content is often edgy, sometimes controversial and always informative. Covering whitewater kayaking, canoeing, and wilderness river tripping. In 2008, Rapid celebrates 10 years in whitewater. Rapid delivers the river.

Adventure Kayak is Canada’s only national kayak touring magazine. However, with an increasing U.S. readership and widening editorial focus, it’s becoming better known as the North American kayak touring magazine that’s published in Canada.

Family Camping and Canoeroots magazine is really two great magazines in one. Canoeroots, published in the heart of Canadian canoe country, is America’s only canoeing magazine. Canoeroots celebrates the rich tradition and heritage of the canoe and feeds the adventurous souls of today’s canoeists.

Rapid Media’s new Reel Paddling Film Festival and World Tour brings the world’s best paddling films to paddlers across North America and around the world. This is our method of inspiring more people to explore rivers, lakes and oceans, push physical and emotional extremes, embrace the lifestyle and appreciate the heritage and culture of the places where we travel.

Rapid Media Events are the way we get more paddlers on the water. These active and fun events are putting ‘butts in boats’ and are the best way to grow the paddlesports industry. Palmer Fest, the Single Blade Symposium and the Rapid Gull River Open Canoe Slalom Race are all in the works for 2006.
